I have XP pro sp1 on a p4 (willimette) 1.8 ghtz 512 meg ddr ram,
on a chaintech mpm800 motherboard, and a 430w powersupply.
all this is brand new (about three weeks old)

ever since I got this system it has been freezing on me, when I leave
it alone for about an hour and come back to use the system.
I have to then shut down the computer the wrong way...and restart it to
use
it...it seems to function great when i continually use it, but whenever
i
get up from the computer, and go work on something for about a hour,
then
come back to the computer to look up something on the web, it has
frozed on me again.

I looked at the event viewer and noticed the below error at the exact
time the system froze:

event ID: 2002 source: perflib

The open procedure for service
"WmiApRpl" in DLL "C:\WINDOWS\System32\wbem\wmiaprpl.dll"
has taken longer than the established wait time to complete.
There may be a problem with this extensible counter or the
service it is collecting data from or the system may have
been very busy when this call was attempted.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

why is this happening, anyone know...and how do i fix it?

I tested my ram and it seems to pass ok with memtest.

Hope this helps.

I seen this answer on another site, I've adjusted the values but I thin
it might be perhaps either a faulty motherboard, or powersupply.
